put your phone down and live…

My trip to Puerto Rico has made me crave something different.. I don’t want to be the same.. I don’t want this daily routine I have fallen into.

Social media has cause me to post everything that i think is important at the time.

While on vacation I saw so many people with their phones out.. trying to capture every fun moment instead actually living it. I kind of made me mad.. I too was like this..

I think it’s time for me to back up from social media for a while.

If it wasn’t for Georgina.. there would be no Bacardi Rum..

ON my trip to Puerto Rico to celebrate my 30th birthday.. I trekked to the Bacardi Rum Factory. I ended up arriving at 9:00 am.. forgetting that my tour started at 11:30. So I sat a round and took some pictures of the grounds and of the museum. At 11:00 one of the bartenders told me to check out the new restaurant that was recently added to the factory. When I walked in I immediately fell in love!

The decor had a caribbean/ African feel to it.

I  placed my order and decided to walk a round, and boy was i in for a treat.

I stumbled upon this writing on the walk.

This plaque goes on to talk about a house servant named Georgina, who was the wet-nurse and care taker of Don Facundo Bacardi 6 kids. Long story short.. Don was about to get indicted because of is business ties with some unsavory character. So Don wrote letters to the crime bosses and the recipes of the rum and was about to mail them and word got out that the chief of police was on the way to search the home. If Don was caught with the letters  he would be good as dead. So  Georgina said you trust me with your kids, trust me with the letter, I will keep them safe. So one of the kids suggested that she hide the letters under her hat, but there was too many. So Georgina stuck the rum recipes and letters in her bosoms and held the baby close to her and started walking away from the hose just as the police arrived. If it wasn’t for smuggling the letters out.. There would be no Bacardi as we know it.

#21. Leave a note for a stranger.

Well.. let me start of by staying.. I was livid before completing this task.My day started with the funeral of my young cousin. Then I decided to go ahead and complete my registration for a tag decal while i was off.. and Boy was I in for a great surprise!!

Soooooooo, I stroll up to the clerk and  hand her my registration, hoping to get in and out.. But oh no!.. she says ” hunny, you need to pay off these tolls before you get in line. So she passes me the number to contact the tolls collectors. Not only was I on the call for 45 minutes.. They brought up a toll from 2012 when i went to Miami!!..

$132 later I was back in line to get my registration. I remembered that I  left something in the care so I went to retrieve it and I noticed a sticky note i previously written to place on someone car.

I placed it on their window and when back in and waited my turn to get called.

I met a really nice guy from New York.. and we talked for about 30 minutes.

Once I got my registration I ran out of there like my mom just took me off punishment!

venice2My Mother’s day was cool and relaxing.

I just got on the road and drove. I ended up in Venice Florida. Which by the way is gorgeous!.

It was so beautiful and peaceful out there, and the little shops were to die for.

I plan to go back soon, but with my camera.

#25 protest something

I decided to protest people who write in all caps. I read my messages.. Facebook stats in certain tones.. So if I see all caps, I automatically think the person is yelling..

Petty I know..lol..

But it was fun to protest something. No kitties were harmed during filming. Shout out to Betty for the help and idea!
